Months ago, I bought a Motorola H700 headet to use for my cell phone. But, I thought it should be able to do more than just be used on my cell, and when my old microphone finally died out on my PC, I was pushed to figure out a way to use it on my computer.
I was frustrated at searches, and misdirection. Some sites claimed you needed drivers to get the bluetooth headset working on Windows, and it made me more mad when I couldn’t find these phantom drivers. So, a few weeks later, I finally figured it out—and it couldn’t be more simpler.
Use Bluetooth Headset as a Microphone and Speaker
- First off, I’m using the H700 with BlueSoleil, the software that came with my BT dongle.
- Load up Bluesolei, and grab your headset.
- Press the button on the headset to make it discoverable (mine turns purple, then you have to flip it open) and click the orange circle in BlueSoleil to find the new device.
- The new device should pop up on the screen. Mine says “Motorola H700″.
- Right click on the headset icon > and click refresh services.
- BlueSoleil should recognize the Bluetooth Headset service profile.
- Now right click > pair device to pair the adapter to your new computer. Once paired with the computer, it WILL NOT work on your phone until you re-pair it again.
- Put the headset on your ear. Now Right click > Connect > Bluetooth Headset Service A. Your phone should beep like a call is incoming, hit your headset button to turn it on.
- If everything works as it should, your headset should be paired and connected to your computer. If sound doesn’t work on it:
- Go to Control Panel > Sounds & Audio Devices. Click on the “audio” tab. Change your default devices for playback and recording to bluetooth.
- Try it again, if it still doesn’t work…well, you’re just screwed. Hop on google again or send me and email.
THANK YOU SO VERY MUCH!!!
Thanks a lot. I’ve always been told Bluetooth headset mics only work with celfones. You just saved me a lot on buying more stuff just to have a wireless mic on my laptop presentations. =)
