Mr. Rodger’s Goes to Washington

I came across a video from C-SPAN from the Nixon era, showing Mr. Rodgers talking to a Senator about the importance of a 20 million dollar grants. I used to watch Mr. Rodgers all the time when I was younger, and it was quite interesting to see this former preacher, calmly discuss why we needed to support public broadcasting. Even now, 20 years later from the time I started watching Mr. Rodgers, I’m still amazed by his simple, gentle nature.
Also interesting about Mr. Rodgers via Wikipedia is this:On the eve of the announcement that Mister Rogers’ Neighborhood would cease production of new episodes, TV GuideImpala. Then it was stolen from its parking spot near the WQED studio. Rogers filed a police report, the story was picked up by local news outlets, and general shock swept across town. Within 48 hours, the car was back in the spot where he left it, along with a note saying, “If we’d known it was yours, we never would have taken it!”Pretty damn neat if you ask me!
