Deep Inside My Thoughts

The Saga Continues

by Bobosan on Feb.05, 2007, under Pizza Hut

The last weekend at work has been another clusterfuck!  We’ve been really, really busy pretty much all weekend, but the Super Bowl Sunday was pretty light.   Every little small mistake we make just makes me want to walk out more and more each day.  I can’t stand having to wait another 5 minutes for wings to be done, or that we run out of breadsticks or pan dough every so often.  I just can’t take it.

I also can’t take the fact that Thursday, Friday, and Saturday I had to do 120 pizza’s a night.  Everyone else mostly had 60 or so, but for some reason, I had double that.  One day I can figure I’ll get that much, but three times in a row and I get pissed off.   Thank god last night (Saturday) we ran out of dough, so I only had to do 50 or so.   But still, the fact that I’m working 9 days straight, and I shouldn’t have to always do the most dough prep just pisses me off until no tomorrow.

And then let’s discuss the greatest innovation in customer service: the call center.  This francise’s call center is complete crap!  I get tickets every so often where the addresses are just plain wrong.  I had a double tonight where there were 10 blocks between them, which is nothing really bad at all.  But the call center typed the address wrong on one, so my other run was 25 blocks away from where I thought it was.   This isn’t the only time they’ve screwed me over, and it’s starting to cut into my tips.   It’s too bad I haven’t got a face to blame for this screw up.

The last major rant about work is people drinking on the clock.   They try to hide it, but at least one manager know’s about it.  This doesn’t really upset me so much as the fact that Pizza Hut is liable if one of those people get’s smashed, leaves work, and rear end’s a sedan right outside.  Or even in the more probably situation where a drunk cook cut’s himself.   I don’t know how the worker’s comp for NPC (the francise) works, but I know some Worker’s Comp plans require a drug and alcohol screening.   So the poor cook that needs to go to the hospital end’s up screwing himself when he tests positive for alcohol.   It’d be even better if he was a minor.  But you know what?  It’s not my problem.   It’s just a bad idea in my opinion to mix alcohol, and conditions where you could really hurt yourself.

I really don’t know how much longer I’ll stay here.   Every single day I work, I think about quiting, and just walking out.  But sometimes, I’ll have fun at work, but that fun dies off pretty quickly.  The major reason I’m still there is, well, I’m too lazy to look for work.   Job hunting has always been like a trip to the dentist for me, and I really don’t want to have to do it if I can manage.  But, sooner than later, I’m gonna be fed up with all the problems this store is having, and I’ll have to do something about it.
