Day #1 Without Internet

Ahh, you have to love your family. You do. Even if they offend you, and infuriate you, you still have to love them. So, after getting into a huge argument with my Father over absolutely nothing, I find myself with my cable shut off—again.
Now this isn’t a usual occurrence. I piss my father off probably every single time I happen to see him face to face. I’m not the best person at being polite, nor even having an ample amount of tact. If I don’t like something, I’m going to tell you I don’t like it, and that’s it. Now, when I get passionate and pissed off too badly, I go too far. I probably went too far this time.
I’ve had my Internet cut off before. I don’t remember why, but last time it was a stupid reason, and it’s the same this time. I think he really just wants me out. That’s a good idea. I should get out.
But I was already supposed to be out by now. I guess my idealist timing just didn’t work out. It’s not like I like living here or anything. I can’t stand his wife, I can’t stand having to go outside to smoke, and I can’t stand having to schedule time with my father around his wife’s schedule. It’s not too selfish of me is it?
But anyhow, I digress. For someone who isn’t supposed to have any Internet, I certainly do have a lot of it. The first thing I did when I got home last night was to find my bluetooth dongle, and get online using Verizon’s free data network. How many of those that use Verizon knew that with the right equipment you can use your phone as a data modem? It’s kinda handy for those times where you are stuck in a restaurant late at night, and want to play poker. But it’s hard to use for extended periods of times, as you pay per airtime minute (of course, weekends and nights are free).
So the other stop-gap measure resorts to wi-fi. Wi-fi is basically all over the place now. I used to go around Wardriving, and hell, I must have 10,000 entries from my trips. Each one of those 10,000 entries is a seperate wireless router. So anyhow, probably 20% of those routers are open. I’ve got a few open networks around me, but I’m using Petro’s again when I need the speed. If I position myself on my bed, as far into the corner as can be, I can get a pretty good 11MBS signal. That’s not too bad, and I end up getting about 130k down, but thats not as good as my 500 I used to get when my wireless router was 10 feet away. ><
