Jaws of Life

I saw the worst wreck I’ve ever seen in my life today. And it’s amazing though, because the guy escaped with only minor injuries. You see, Sam and I decided to go up to Circle Center again today, but this time I wanted him to drive. Big mistake! After Sam picked me up, we hopped on I-65 at my exit, only to hit traffic after a mile. We went from 85 m.p.h. to zero, and Sam almost drove under the semi in front of us in the process.
It took us roughly two hours to go the four miles to the scene of this cataclysmic wreck. A tractor-trailer heading southbound on ‘65 crossed over the center divider, seemingly hitting another semi head on.
As we got closer to the crash, the devestation was enormous. One of the trailers’ cabs was totally smashed. I tried to get a picture of it, but the auto-focus on my camera phone is really bad outdoors. Anyhow, the cab was crushed, and I’ve never, ever, seen anything quite like it. Hell, even the trailer itself was destroyed, with a big rip down the side.
As we rolled by, we had our windows down, and I remember a Sherriff looking at me as I said, “Oh, shit!”, as we rolled by. It’s quite amazing that the guy in that truck actually survived all that waton destruction. I even put my seat belt on after seeing the scene. It’s kind of scary thinking at any moment, a tired driver could cross over the grass, sending you and everyone in your car to an early grave.
Hmm….speaking of, I need to get back to writing my last will and testiment.
