Project Blue Mouse

I got bored yesterday morning, and after seeing someone mod a MX1000 mouse, which is the model of mouse I use, I decided to paint it. There’s something special about a computer mod to me, its something that brings up gleefulness and happiness. Sure, its all most geeky thing to do, but its a cool thing to do too. How many people have pimped their mices? I have. Have you?
Anyhow, so at about 7:30 a.m. I drove to my neighborhood hardware store, only to find them closed until 8. So I had to resort to evil, evil, Walmart. But it was alright, I found the kind of spray paint I was planning to use if I ever decided to repaint my computer case, which I never actually had time to do. But anyhow, it’s this big, bright, vibrant blue. It looks totally bitching!
I sat down about 8:15ish and after a half an hour or so of patiently taking apart my $70 mouse, I had it dissassembled. I even tried reassembling it a few times, making sure it would work after wards. I decided to paint the charging base the same color too, and had to disassemble that as well.
Soon enough, I started to paint. I didn’t bother priming the plastics, considering I knew I was going to use 7 or 8 layers of paint anyhow. So every 45 minutes, I would go outside, put another layer of paint on, have a cigarette, and then go back inside and wait, while staring at the clock constantly. Soon enough, I had 7 layers on the thing, and a coat or two of clear coat. It looked beautiful!
Putting it back together was no walk in the park though. I think I had to reassemble the damn thing 4 or 5times before I found the right screws for the right holes. But looking back on it, this project was just the right thing I needed. It had the right mix of geekiness, tossed together with the right ammount of chic. Check it out, do you think it looks good or not?
