Games To Be Watched

I was off today. I am off tomorrow too. What do I do with my time? Usually I’d be playing World of Warcraft or Battlefield 2. Today, I really only played Battlefield 2, and had a little too much fun TKing those idiots who would run in front of my tank. Still, the game is pretty much fun. If only I could master how to fly a damn helicopter.
World of Warcraft hasn’t been that much fun lately. There’s no one to play with, my guild left me, and I barely talk with Renee. Renee is the girl from California I played with from about level 15 to level 50. She was the only person I would group with, and because of that, I have no social contacts on the game. Soloing everywhere is a pain, and it’s just not fun like it was for the previous 120 hours. Because of this, I’ve been spending a lot of time playing other games, or just surfing the internet.
One game I’m playing now is the Star Wars Combine. Essentially, this game is just a MUD with a small GUI , and a few thousand people playing it. I used to play it a few years ago, but left when I defected from the Galatic Empire to the Rebel Alliance, and had a $10 million bounty placed on my head. Still, its very fun, but its a little confusing to pick up at first. I’m still having some trouble remembering how to actually do stuff, and I’m still stuck on Tatoonie. Soon though, I will join a shipping company, and start doing runs to pay for my living. Soon after that, I will give my services to the Emperor, and pray that I am force sensitive. Dark Jedis, well, kick major ass. Through Passion I gain Power.
Another game that has my interest is the new The Elder Scrolls : Oblivion. The last one, was kick ass, and although a little slow at some points, very satisfying. I remember loading the game up, and being awestruck by the water effects, which were cutting edge back in 2002. Unlike the MMORPGs I play, you can really get a sense that you change an event in a single player game. I remember in the original being the Grand Arch-Mage and being the Horator of a few houses. All that took was a few hundred hours. The worlds in these game are imense…about the size of Everquest. I was addicted to Everquest when I started playing Morrowind before, and quit raiding for a while to play.
Also, I hear that the FTC will investigate the ethics of video games. This is a very sad day for our country, and I fear that 1st Ammendment rights will be affected by this. Janet Jackson’s Super Bowl nipple slip cost $550,000, how much damage will this do to our beloved game industry? From now on, publishers and programers will be more conservative than ever, and will ‘tone down’ their ideas rather than invoke the wrath of the evil FTC. I must say though, up until now, if Hillary Clinton ran for President in ‘08, I would have voted for her. When she pushed up the rhetoric on this issue, she lost my vote. Hell, I even wrote the President (i.e. a $7 an hour staff member) and told him it was a shame he was limited to two terms, because he lost my vote too. Nothing agravates me more than a stupid investigation when there are serious issues the government needs to be addressing.
