Deep Inside My Thoughts

A Grab-bag of Random Stuff

I have to work in seven hours.

I can’t sleep again. I stayed up too late Friday and ended up falling asleep about 9am Saturday morning. Needless to say , I woke up about six in the evening and can’t fall asleep right now. I took four Unisoms and I’m just kicking back waiting for them to kick in.

At least I got some homework done tonight. I took my laptop to Denny’s earlier and wrote my entire outline while I was there. I couldn’t find my lighter on the table, and ended up looking around for about five minutes for my lighter. Of course, it was in my pocket. I can be so stupid sometimes. But still, I got a lot done. Tomorrow, I work 11-8 so all I have to do is practice tomorrow, and create a few slides in PowerPoint. This should be gravy Monday.

Lotte IM’d me tonight, asking if I sent her a tell. Evidently someone named will_1_122 IMed her with a very personal song. She said she only told me and another guy about that song. The other guy is this crazy Georgian ( The Nation, not the State) that lives in New York City. They were a couple for quite awhile, and since they’re no longer a couple, the guy takes pot shots at her. Lotte is like a sister to me. I don’t like it when she’s worried. It will be nice to have her over here with me in a few months. I can’t wait. I’m going to take off work for a week, and let her get used to being here. I can’t take off school, but she shouldn’t miss me for a few hours a day. God, I can’t wait.

I’ve been watching Pinky & The Brain lately too. I loved that show as kid, and it’s still very funny today. I used to come home from school, lay down on my grandmother’s shag carpet, and watch the show. It was a daily ritual. I remember wondering why my dad watched Ren & Stimpy during its height, and I know why. This show appeals to more than kids, and some of the humor is really adult-oriented. Ahh, to know the things I know now back then. You have to be pretty malkavian to create this stuff. Ten years later, this stupid show is still making me laugh. Thats quality Television for you.

I ordered a new router today. I finally got my PIN for my new card, so went out, withdrew $20 , and then came home and shopped. I bought a Linksys WRT54G so I can connect to my in-house wired network, and also have an AP for my laptop. I can check my email in my bathroom now! Ahh, the joy’s of technology. But, it will be nice to be able to sit on the couch and work on whatever I need to do. And it was only $55 shipped…quite a steal I think.

I’m also looking into Knoppix again. It would be nice to find some linux drivers for this laptop, so I can play around in KDE again. I had my computer dual-boot for a damn long time, but after awhile, its not worth it just to have a 20GB hardrive devoted entirely to Linux. It’s alot easier to just use Knoppix when I need a Linux fix, and not have to worry about boot loading. But still, why doesn’t someone develop 3rd party Linux drivers for Dell laptops? I’d much rather use Linux if I’m just surfing around, and espically at school, which cuts down on the malicious incoming network traffic. I’ll have to do some more poking around tomorrow when I have more time.

I’m also going to try to quite smoking pretty soon. I’m up to about two packs a day again, and I really feel it in my lungs. I need to start eating right, exercising, and try living healthier. Its gonna be hard to quit, but I’ve smoked for almost five years now, and I need to stop. Five years of smoking, and I’m only 21. That’s crazy. Good luck to me on that.

Well, after an hour lying in bed typing this post, I’ve decided I’ll just stay up. It will only be 26 hours being awake when I get off tomorrow, and I’m sure I’ll just come home and pass out. Besides, I’ll be well rested and on a more ‘normal’ sleep cycle for class Monday. I can get a few kills in on Battlefield 2, and a few more hours in on my speech if I play my cards this way, and I might even get to talk to Lotte or Toni before I go.

Off to hide in bushes and snipe…
